Lister Park
I have been to Lister Park a few times and I absolutely love it as the park is well taken care of with beautiful flowers, buildings, sculptures etc. The weather that day was cloudy and chilly but still enjoyed the great outdoor with some lovely fresh air that we all need. There is so much to see as it is a very big park I would suggest you have a full day. The other reason I like this park as it is wheelchair accessible as I will explain down below but do keep in mind there are some stairs in some areas but there are other ways around for wheelchair users.

I have not personally been inside this Cartwright hall yet but hopefully will do some day. This is Bradford's Civic art gallery which is within Lister Park.

Castellated Arch
John Hill Mayor

Entrance:-
There are three impressive gateways to the park which are all grade ll Listed. The Oak Lane Entrance has ornate gate-piers and iron work. While the Keighley Road gateway takes the form of a giant castellated arch with turrets in mock historic style. The gate to the North Park Road are in an elaborate Baroque Style which compliments the architecture of Cartwright Hall which is behind them.

Sir Titus Salt

 Statue Of Sir Titus Salt:-
This statue of Sir Titus Salt, founder of the model village of Saltaire and its mills, was re-erected in the park in 1896, having previously stood Bradford Town Hall and was registered as a listed building on 9-8-83 (Grade ll). (taken from the actual statue plaque).
The Bandstand

The Bandstand:-
The restored octagonal bandstand was once one of the main attractions of Lister Park until the advent of radio and television. The sweeping paths is lined with benches which face the bandstand. The original bandstand was demolished during the second world war so as part of the parks refurbishments the bandstand was rebuilt but in a different shape and a bigger scale.

Mughal Water Garden

The Mughal Water Garden:-
This eye-catching garden, this first of its kind  in Northan England, is a synthesis between Islamic and Indian architectural styles, combining terraces and paths, grassed areas and avenues of trees divided by water channels, cascades and pools in a traditional rectangular design. (taken from Bradford district parks)

The restoration on this historic park has gone well beyond refurbishing its fine Victorian features and a new highlight of the park has to be the impressive Mughal water Garden situated on a terrace below Cartwright Hall. The new garden was open in 2001, and although based on the traditional Mughal garden, it was a deliberate attempt to create a garden unique to this site. The composition of the local community, project finances, the local climate and materials were taken into consideration. The garden itself is 120 metres long and 30 metres wide. ( take from bbc to find out more please visit www.bbc.co.uk)

There is so much to see and
explore, it also has a flower garden throughout the park.

Accessibility:-
A footpath surrounds the park which is accessible to all and suitable for the majority of manual and electric wheelchair. There is level access from North Park Road and Emm Lane to the park. Wheelchair users may require assistance to access all areas.
